Videos taken by doctor Darsi Ferrer and smuggled out of Cuba by therealcuba.com's webmaster show the real health care regular Cubans receive. Very different from the flagship hospital for the Elite, paying foreigners and special interest useful idiots where Michael Moore went for his Sicko propaganda movie. This is only the beginning, there is plenty more this came from and a lot of the raw videos are already here in this youtube profile. These are the hospitals from the other side of the apartheid for regular Cubans that Sicko wouldn't show.

  • A Clean Bill Of Health - Cuba

June 2006 Despite decades of crippling sanctions, Cuba has achieved the unthinkable. Its health care system rivals most Western countries and infant mortality rates are lower than those in America. "There is no place in the world with such a system as we have in Cuba", raves one happy patient. Prevented from importing drugs by sanctions, Cuba was forced to make is own medicines. It now sells this technology to other countries, enabling revenues from the health sector to rival those generated by tourism. But it's the training for free of international medical students that's really marking Cuba's stamp on the region. "In ten years, we will have trained between 100,000 -- 150,000 students", boasts Dr Estevez. America claims gestures like this are a means of Cuba buying UN votes. But Cub...

In 1999 Cuba opened the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) to give medical scholarships to the brightest from poor areas around the world so that they may become doctors that will eventually return and serve the communities from which they came. Due to decades of political animosity between the United States and Cuba, of which have only recently began to normalize, information about Cuba has been relatively scant. Despite the impasse in diplomatic relations, Cuba provided the offer of free medical scholarships for students in the United States. The film tells the story of the medical scholarship program and the young Americans, many from poor and underserved communities in the United States, who were awarded full scholarships to study medicine at the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, Cuba. The program is a 6-7 year, fully Spanish, hands-on experience that prepares students to become doctors that are skilled at preventing diseases and treating patients in low-resource conditions with an interwoven focus on community building. At a time when Cuba itself remained off-limits to most Americans, the students and graduates of ELAM share their experiences, challenges, lessons and hopes as they are fully immersed in a new culture while learning a unique and radically different approach to medicine and healthcare

When people think of health tourism, it’s usually plastic surgery in Brazil or South Korea that comes to mind. And you would assume that those in need of serious medical attention aren’t looking to Cuba for help, but a growing amount of Cuban doctors are caring for international patients. Boom Bust’s Bianca Facchinei has all of the details on that.

Do people in Cuba get much better health care than Americans? If you too are as naive as Michael Moore, and believe Cuban claims, then you think the answer is "yes."

But Cubans see their success as an act of defiance against America. Produced by SBS/Dateline Distributed by Journeyman Pictures

Besides a phenomenal education system, Cuba is known for its world class healthcare. Free access to quality healthcare is enshrined in the Cuban constitution. It has been reported that Cuba has the second highest doctor to patient ration in the world. Health tourism is a growing industry for Cuba, with international tourists visiting the country to take advantage of cosmetic surgery, eye surgery, and orthopedics, among other procedures. The Cuban healthcare system is the envy of many other nations. When compared with other countries, Cuba's health indicators compare favorably with even the richest nations in the world. The V.I. Lenin Hospital was built in 1965 with cooperation from the Soviet Union. Lenin Hospital serves the healthcare needs of Cubans from the Holguin region and beyond. According to Cuba's health ministry, one in three Holguin residents was born in Lenin Hospital. Besides providing state of the art healthcare, Lenin Hospital is a shining example of Cuba's leadership in medical research.

Cuba is famous for its excellent health care system, which is free of charge for its citizens. How can a developing country like Cuba reach such a high level of free health care? We meet doctor Gisela, and go on tour with her trough the neighborhood she attends. But what if you live in a developing country where access to health care is not that obvious? In the Philippines we meet Emma. She is not a doctor, but a Community Health Worker. We witness how she, together with her colleagues, helps her neighbors and organizes them for the right to health.
